Max Faktor, is a Polish born in 1870s . He became the father of modern make-up. At the age of eight Max was placed in apprenticeship to a dentist-pharmacist because his parents could not afford formal education for their children. Fascination with the human form was instilled in him in his years of mixing potions. He opened his own shop initially and started selling hand-made rouges, creams, fragrances, and wigs. While performing for Russian nobility, traveling theatrical troupe wore Factor’s make-up. It was when the door to fame and fortune opened wide for Max. He was appointed as the official cosmetic expert for the royal family and the Imperial Russian Grand Opera by the Russian Nobility.
